No Deal!

It has recently come to our attention that two articles were published in the Orange County Register last. Both indicated that a deal had been struck between the Fountain Valley School District and the Huntington Beach City Council. As you can well, imagine, the hot line here at SaveOurField.org was ringing off the hook with everyone asking if it were true.

With no hesitation, I placed a call to the SaveOurField.org board members and Huntington Beach City Council member Don Hansen and called for an emergency board meeting to meet and discuss this new development. After much discussion, Don reassured us that indeed "there is nothing in writing yet!" Despite the quotes in these articles, attributed to Dr Ecker, which seemed to indicate that negotiations were well under way, nothing could be further from the truth. To summarize, this is what we know:

• There is NO DEAL!!
• There is NO HIGH DENSITY ZONING PLAN!!

Our primary focus remains: the August 15, 2005 meeting coming up in two weeks. More on this in time.

In the meantime, I've decided to leverage some new technology and begin a podcast for SaveOurField.org. With my resident PodMeister, Andrew McLaughlin, we have made our first recording which is linked here. While it's under 13 minutes, as our first foray in this technology, we wanted to keep it short and to the point. The thrust of the podcast is to cover a brief history of the SaveOurField.org effort as well as a brief analysis of the recent week's events. This is the first of what we hope will be many podcasts.
